Magic Cookie Bars
Magic cookie bars are a dessert that makes me think of sitting around the fire with my family. We make these bars to take on vacation, day trips, or just sitting around the pool on a summer afternoon. My whole family loves them and it doesn’t get much easier than this recipe. These cookie bars come together in one pan in under 30 minutes and can be enjoyed warm or refrigerated for a fudgier texture.
Traditionally, magic cookie bars call for nuts (usually walnuts or pecans). Still, my family prefers them without, meaning there is just that much more of the gooey chocolate and flaky coconut in this recipe to make up for the nuts. I have also made these gluten-free using store-bought gluten-free graham crackers, so I know for a fact that these will turn out just as delicious if you choose to make them gluten-free.
For the cookie bars, all you have to do is create the crust then layer in the rest of the ingredients. It truly does not matter what order you do things in (I’ve started with the condensed milk and also ended with it and both ways turned out great). Because of this, this recipe is super forgiving and great for beginner bakers. You can also add in other fun chocolates, or even try it with butterscotch chips subbed in for half of the chocolate chips. They’re very customizable and a great recipe to have on hand for those times you need to bring a treat but want to make something easy. So, spice them up your way and enjoy!
