My Go-To Skin Care Products

Skincare is something that I have not always been the best at. I would often just cycle through products I could get for a low price at the drugstore or free samples from Sephora that you get when you order other products. However, I think through the samples I have been able to discover some products that I really like, and now, I incorporate them into my daily routine. Trial and error is often the way I find the products I enjoy, and I think after a while of these efforts, I have finally found a routine that works for me. I do want to preface this by saying that my skin is typically pretty dry but gets oily in the summer, so most of my products will cater to that skin type. Also, your skin is very different from my skin! All skin is unique! So before you try any new products, make sure to look into them and decide if they are right for you, and even consult with your dermatologist to ensure that it is right for you. So, with that being said, let’s walk through the skincare products I have come to love!

If I had to choose only one of the products out of this entire post, it would definitely be this one. I use this micellar cleansing water every night to take makeup off and clean my face. I occasionally will use this in the morning as well to cleanse my skin. This does an amazing job at removing makeup, and as someone who loves mascara but hates waking up with the leftover of last night’s makeup around my eyes, I really recommend this product. I also have very sensitive skin, and other skincare has irritated my face in the past. This cleansing water, however, is incredibly gentle and does not bother my skin at all. I used to have a travel size of this as well, but recently I have been lazy about getting a new one, so I just lug this one around. It is so worth it though - I honestly don’t go a day without it!

The next product I love is something I have used for quite some time now, but not in this spray form. I like this Clinique Moisture Surge spray because it is so light and easy to carry with you in case you need a little extra moisture in your routine. I still recommend it in this form, but I especially recommend the Clinique Moisture Surge gel cream. This is the product I have used for years, and I actually discovered it when I received a sample of it in a Sephora order. Since then I have loved this moisturizer. It is so soothing, light, and as the name suggests, incredibly moisturizing. It almost gives a cooling effect when you apply it, and it does not leave your skin sticky or greasy as some other products do.

Serums and oils are something that I had not gotten into until very recently. This past year, I decided to give oils a try, even though I was always so nervous that they would leave my skin feeling oily and gross. I can say that I was pleasantly surprised by these oils, and I truly recommend them, as I feel like my skin has gotten even smoother and hydrated after using these products. On a typical day, I will usually rinse my face with water in the shower, then use the micellar cleansing water when I get out. After that, I wait a few minutes for my face to dry, and I use one of these two oils.

I decided to purchase this on Sephora about a year ago, and to be completely honest, when I was choosing an oil I was pretty much going in blind. I still don’t know that much about the world of facial serums and oils, but I do know that this one works as advertised. I chose this oil purely on the number of good reviews, which I know isn’t really the best way to choose your skincare. However, I did know that I wanted a product that was for hydration, so in that sense, I did know what I was looking for. After doing a little research on what squalane is (hers does a lovely job describing the difference between squalene and squalane, as well as the benefits the oil can provide), I decided that this product may be good for my skin. And because this squalane by The Ordinary was only $7.90, I felt that even if I didn’t love it, it wouldn’t be that much of a waste of money. When the product arrived, I did a test patch as recommended, and everything was fine. So, I began using this oil and WOW it is amazing! It leaves my skin only the slightest bit oily (which goes away completely as the product absorbs) but also so smooth and soft. I use this most times I do my skincare, even in the summer when I usually wouldn't want to put extra oils on my face.

Finally, the last product I have come to love is this Squalane and Vitamin C Rose Oil from Biossance. This product is much more expensive than the oil from The Ordinary, so if you are looking for a budget-friendly option, I would definitely recommend getting a product from The Ordinary. However, if you are looking for something to really treat yourself, I would absolutely recommend this product. Again, it has a similar feel to the squalane from The Ordinary (which I think is just how an oil feels), but it leaves my skin feeling hydrated and soft. It has the same benefits from the squalane as the previous oil, but this adds in vitamin c and rose oil to make it extra luxurious. I do not honestly know if it has made my skin visibly brighter, but either way, I think this is a wonderful product.

I hope this has inspired you to try some new skincare products and find the ones that work the best for you and your skin. I will make sure to keep you all updated in case any of my routine changes or I find a new amazing product that I want to share. But until then, take care of yourself and your skin!
