An Afternoon at the Vineyard

This past Sunday I spent a lovely (and very hot) afternoon with family at Johnathan Edwards Winery in Stonington, CT. We had not been there before, but will absolutely be going again as it was one of the most beautiful vineyards I have been to in Connecticut. We brought along the cutest picnic set that included a cooler, plates, silverware, glasses, napkins, a corkscrew, a cutting board, and a cheese knife. It is the most convenient travel picnic set that was passed down to us from my grandparents. There are so many adorable picnic sets out there (now I want one that comes in a basket), and I’ll link some of my favorites below. The one we have is currently on sale at Target! It comes in blue with gingham plates and napkins and is the first one linked below.

Once we arrived at the vineyard, we decided on a wine (a Riesling, which was the sweetest wine they sold), and set up camp along the rows of grapes. Unfortunately, the only picture I managed to snap of the wine was after we drank it all, but at least you can still appreciate how pretty the bottle is! We brought along some cheese and crackers, and some olives (my favorite), along with some leftover lemon poppyseed loaf for dessert.

I hadn’t intended to take a lot of photos on this day, so I kept my outfit very casual and comfortable. My top and sandals are both items that I thrifted. Unfortunately, the top does not have a tag in it, but I will link two similar tops that I have found here and here. My shorts are one of my new favorites, which I have worn both unrolled and with one roll on the hem, depending on the outfit. They’re from Target’s Universal Thread line and are incredibly comfortable. They’re also a nice length, as I like my shorts to comfortably cover everything and not ride up. I will link the shorts here so that you can find them too. And the best part? They’re only 17.99 and come in 5 colors! Even though the weather will soon be getting cooler where I live, I still think this is a great deal. They are so basic and can be worn next summer too, so if you have the chance to snag a pair of these, you definitely should!

To finish off the day, we sat by the water and enjoyed some lobster rolls for dinner. It was a hot afternoon but ended up being a really wonderful time. As much as I adore autumn, it’s moments like these that make me really appreciate the beauty of summer.
